Vascular surgery presentations in a paediatric population

Overview

This webinar has a cross speciality focus looking at specific issues / presentation that may be consulted on by paediatricians, paediatric surgeons, vascular surgeons and staff that work on a paediatric ICU. Specifically the webinar will focus on the management of an acutely ischaemic limb in children and neonates and the management of aterio-venous malformations.

Aims

  • To gain understanding on the management of acute limb ischaemia in neonates and children

  • To gain understanding on the investigation and management of children with AV malformations.

By the end of this webinar, attendees should have more knowledge and understanding on the management of acute limb ischaemia and AV malformations in children.

Panellists

Our panellists include:

  • Mr. James Forsyth - Consultant Vascular Surgeon. Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. Mr Forsyth is a consultant vascular surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. He has an interest in the management of lower limb ischaemia, surgical education and surgical pathways.

  • Mr. Chung Lim - Consultant Vascular Surgeon. Royal Free London NHS Trust / Great Ormond Street Hospital. Mr Lim is a consultant vascular surgeon and honorary clinical lecturer at the Royal Free London. He is an honorary consultant at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He qualified from Barts and the London Medical School, and obtained his PhD from Imperial College London. He completed higher general and vascular surgical training in London. He is one of few vascular surgeons in the country with interest in vascular surgery in children. Mr Lim’s main research interests focus on translational and clinical studies on the management of complex venous diseases and vascular malformations.

  • Mr. Patrick Coughlin (Moderator) - Patrick qualified from the University of Leeds in 1997 and undertook his basic and higher surgical training in the Yorkshire Deanery. Endovascular training was obtained as an overseas fellow at Fremantle Hospital in Perth and as a BSET fellow at St Georges Hospital, London in 2009. He was appointed as a Consultant in Vascular/Endovascular Surgery at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge in 2011. He subsequently returned back to Leeds in 2021. He has a strong interest in teaching / training. He is Chair of the Education and Training COmmittee for the Vascular Society and has a number of other national education roles.
