By joining The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) as a Fellow, Member or Affiliate, you become part of a prestigious network of some 25,000 professionals in over 100 countries across the world. How Do You Become an RCSEd Fellow or Member?
Fellowship or membership of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is usually by examination. If you are due to sit an examination, such as the MRCS, you can do so throughout the UK and internationally and choose to affiliate to The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
If you have been successful in the membership examination of one of the UK or Ireland surgical colleges you are eligible to apply for membership of this college. Please email email@example.com giving details of your full name and postal address so that we can send the relevant information to you.
It is also possible for you to be admitted to the Fellowship of the College without examination if you are:
- a Fellow of a sister college or Corporations of Surgery
- a registered medical practitioner who is not a Fellow of a sister college or Corporation of Surgery but have professional status of a high order and are deemed to have rendered special services to surgery in general or to the College in particular
- a registered medical practitioner who is not a Fellow of a sister college or Corporation of Surgery but have passed an Intercollegiate Specialty Examination and have completed a Higher Surgical Training programme recognised by the appropriate Specialist Advisory Committee.

Joining through ICO
Candidates who have successfully completed the ICO Examinations of Basic Sciences, Optics and Refraction and Clinical Sciences and the ICO Advanced Examination can apply to be awarded membership (MRCSEd (Ophth)) with Royal College Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Please note ONLY certified copies of success in these examinations, will be accepted. We ask that no original copies be sent, as we cannot ensure these will be returned.
