The Intercollegiate Surgical eLogbook is managed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is a collaborative project of all four surgical royal colleges. The eLogbook has strong links to the Joint Committee on Surgical Training (JCST) and the specialty associations. It provides a lifetime service to surgeons of all grades and specialties, as well as a growing number of allied healthcare professionals and students.
For most surgical trainees, the elogbook is mandatory and is used with the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme (ISCP) to inform decisions relating to trainee progression. Data on personal training activity is made available to all surgical trainers. Comparative data is presented through various channels to training programme directors, specialist advisory committees on surgical training (SACs), the JCST, and the schools of surgery, where it is used to inform quality assurance processes. Researchers requiring elogbook data should submit their proposals to the Data Analysis, Audit, and Research Group (DAARG).
There are currently over 22,000 active users worldwide and over 65 million operation records.
