The Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh will accredit courses and programmes of a sufficient quality and standing to allow educational providers and prospective students with a quality benchmark to demonstrate that an accredited activity meets the rigorous standards of the College.
It will provide a service, for a fee, to review evidence of quality standards for an individual course or programme of study. It may also be necessary, for an additional cost, to undertake a face-toface inspection of the course or programme.
The RCSEd Faculty of Dental Surgery can provide accreditation of the below activities.
Courses or events of 5 days duration or less.
- Certificate (60 CATS)
- Diploma (120 CATS)
- Masters (180 CATS)
- Membership (4,500 hours of study: 60% clinical; 25% academic; 15% research)

Step-by-step Process to Accreditation
Contact the accreditation team (accreditation@rcsed.ac.uk) who can provide you with the relevant documents and information for the accreditation you are seeking.
Complete and return the application to the accreditation team with the requested supporting documentation.
After reviewing your application, the accreditation team will be in touch requesting any further information they think would help further support your application. If no further information is required, your application will be sent off for review by our clinical and educational specialists. Please note that due to the ongoing training of our clinical reviewers, the accreditation process for dental applications can take approximately 6 months.
Once the review process is complete, the accreditation team will inform you of the outcome of your application.
