RCSEd Fellows Celebrated in King’s New Years Honours List

The 2024 New Year Honours list recognises the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the UK, and we’re incredibly proud that some of our Fellows were included in this historic list.

 

Awardee of the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE):

Professor Valerie Joan Lund, RCSEd Fellow, Emeritus Professor in Rhinology at the University College London was awarded an DBE for services to Rhinology (Staines-upon-Thames, Berkshire).

 

Awardee of Knight Bachelor (KT)

Neil James McCready Mortensen, RCSEd Fellow, Lately President, Royal College of Surgeons of England was awarded a Knighthood for the services to Surgery (Oxford, Oxfordshire).

 

Awardee of the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE):

James Michael Olu N'Dow DL, RCSEd Fellow, Professor of Urological Surgery at the University of Aberdeen was awarded an OBE for services to Cancer and Urology, and to Voluntary Work (Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire).

 

Awardees of the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE):

Olurotimi Babatunde Adesanya, RCSEd Dental Fellow, Founder and Chair, African and Caribbean Dental Association UK and Principal Dentist, Watling Street Dental Care was awarded an MBE for services to Oral Health (London, Greater London).

Dinendra Singh Gill, Dip IMC RCSEd Dip RTM RCSEd FIMC RCSEd, was awarded an MBE for services to Pre-Hospital and Trauma Care in Wales (Cardiff, South Glamorgan).

Alice Elizabeth Ellis (Alice Hartley), RCSEd Fellow, Consultant Urologist, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust was awarded an MBE for services to the NHS (Morpeth, Northumberland).

Richard Power, RCSEd Fellow, Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust; Chair, Health Action Leicester in Ethiopia was awarded an MBE for services to Health in Gondar, Northern Ethiopia.

 

Awardee of the British Empire Medal (BEM):

Carl Smith, RCSEd Dip IMC RCSEd, Advanced Paramedic in Critical Care, East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Head, Clinical Development for Emergency and Critical Care, College of Paramedics and Firefighter, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was awarded an BEM for services to the NHS and to Fire and Rescue (Swaffham, Norfolk).

 

Awardee of the King’s Ambulance Service Medal:

Vicki Jane Brown, RCSEd Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care Fellow, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Critical Care, South Western Ambulance Service was awarded the King’s Ambulance Service Medal.
