The Faculty of Dental Trainers promotes the role of the dental trainer and teacher and recognises achievement and excellence in dental training, ultimately enhancing patient care.
The Faculty of Dental Trainers is proud to launch its medal. This medal will be awarded to a dentist or dental care practitioner (DCP), either clinical or academic, who has shown exceptional commitment to dental education, teaching and training.
The medal will be selected based on evidence in one or more of the following criteria:
- A distinguished profile in the field of dental education, teaching and training, for example seniority within a field or geographical region, leadership or pioneering activity;
- Consistent or outstanding commitment to dental education, teaching and training;
- Research and publications relating to the improvement of dental education teaching, and training;
- Innovation or excellence in the field of dental education, teaching and training;
- A positive educational impact on trainees, colleagues or service delivery;
- Influencing others within the field of dental education, teaching and training;
- Charitable or benevolent evidence within the field of dental education, teaching and training.
The medal can be awarded to non-members of the Faculty, though it is anticipated they will join the Faculty prior to receipt of the medal. Nominators and Seconders must be Fellows, Members or Associates of the Faculty.
Nominations should be completed via Good Grants by 00:00 on Monday 21 September 2026.
