Current President, Professor Michael Griffin OBE, who will remain in-post until November 2022, said: “I’d like to congratulate Rowan on his success and wish him all the best for his upcoming term as President of the College.

“The competition was incredibly tough this term and I’d like to extend my gratitude to all the applicants who were in the running for the position.  It was inspirational to see so many impressive individuals with a real passion for bettering the surgical profession.

“Having the opportunity to serve as President of the RCSEd is truly an honour and a fantastic opportunity to represent our members and the surgical community not only in the UK, but all over the world.  I have every confidence that Rowan will achieve fantastic things in his new role.”

Professor Rowan Parks said: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been elected to serve as the next President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I look forward to working with Council, the College staff and our global membership to build on the outstanding work of Professor Michael Griffin, and lead the College as it grows and develops over the next three years.”
