Why is wellbeing important?

Overview

This webinar is an introduction to Wellbeing Week, and is intended to get us all talking about the importance of wellbeing and how it can be achieved.

As the first webinar of the RCSEd Trainees’ Committee Wellbeing Week, we will get the discussion started as to what we actually mean by wellbeing, why is it important and how we hope to achieve it. Join us as we hear from a range of speakers about what wellbeing means to them and how we can promote a healthy home and work environment.

Miss Anna Paisley - Chair

RCSEd Council Member and Consultant General and Upper GI Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Mr James Tomlinson

Consultant Spinal Surgeon, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Deputy Director, Faculty of Surgical Trainers, RCSEd

James is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon in a tertiary referral and major trauma centre; Sheffield, UK. He is Educational TPD for Trauma & Orthopaedics in Yorkshire and Deputy Director of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers. He was awarded the prestigious BOA ABC Fellowship to visit centres of excellence in the US and Canada and exchange ideas on surgical training. He also has an interest in patient safety and is Clinical Lead for Human Factors at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Away from work he can usually be found spending time with his family, and cycling in the Peak District.

Dr Carole Boyle

Consultant in Special Care Dentistry / Hon Senior Lecturer. Clinical Lead Sedation and Special Care Dentistry.

Dr Rikard Moen

Consultant Physician in Occupational Health and Chair of The Faculty of Remote, Rural & Humanitarian Healthcare (FRRHH) committee and has a wealth of experience in the occupational side of facing challenges in remote and rural settings.

Miss Greta McLachlan

KSS Higher General Surgical Trainee and Women Speakers in Healthcare co-founder

Greta McLachlan is higher general surgical trainee based in Kent Surrey Sussex deanery. She splits her week between clinical practice and her leadership fellow role at Cleveland clinic London. She is co-founder of women speakers in healthcare and national medical directors clinical fellowship scheme alumni.
