Setting up a CAWH service and optimising patients before surgery
29th June 2021 at 19:00 BST
This webinar will cover the important aspects of setting up an abdominal wall hernia service. The following talk will then cover the vital aspects to prehabilitating patients prior to such complex surgery to achieve the best possible outcomes and reduce morbidity.
The aim is to give trainees the ability to see what is needed to set up a specialist service, along with the capability to actually do this CAWH when looking for consultant appointments.
Trainees will also understand the importance of optimisation for patients to improve outcomes, specifically for CAWH but transferable to the management of other significant diagnosis.
By the end of this session, trainees will have gained the knowledge of:
1. What’s needed to set up a specialist service
2. How this would look in a CAWH service
3. The important co-morbidities that affect outcomes in CAWH surgery
4. How to manage these co-morbidities successfully
