The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) welcomes the launch of a renewed Women’s Health Strategy for England and its commitment to improving the experiences and outcomes of women across the NHS.

Helene Stevenson, Chair of the College's Hunter Doig Women in Surgery Group said:

"We strongly support the emphasis on listening to women’s voices and placing patient experience at the centre of care. Ensuring that all patients are heard, believed, and actively involved in decisions about their treatment is fundamental to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate healthcare."

RCSEd particularly welcomes the focus on streamlining pathways. Delayed diagnosis and treatment not only impact quality of life but can also lead to more complex surgical needs. Improving timely access to specialist care will support better clinical outcomes and reduce long-term pressures on the NHS.

As a surgical college committed to excellence in patient care, education, and training, RCSEd stands ready to support the implementation of this strategy. Sustained investment, clear delivery frameworks, and ongoing collaboration across the healthcare system will be essential to ensure these commitments translate into real and lasting improvements.

"We look forward to collaborating with partners across the NHS, government, and the wider health sector to help achieve a more equitable and responsive healthcare system for all patients."
