Wong Choon Hee Medical Student Hardship Bursary 2021

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, in association with the Wong-Powell family, is pleased to offer medical students an opportunity to apply for financial support towards continuation of their studies. These awards, which are open to medical students in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, have normally provided funds for travel abroad for elective projects in surgery. Since opportunities for travel are effectively curtailed during the Covid-19 pandemic, the terms and conditions for the awards have been changed for the current year.

Medical students in good standing with their Medical School, who are experiencing particular financial hardship may therefore apply for up to £500 to help them meet costs that are essential to their studies – these may include accommodation, living costs, costs of travel within the UK or Ireland, books, computer or other required equipment.
