RCSEd Dental Dean Reacts to Landmark Passing of Tobacco and Vapes Bill

Professor Grant McIntyre, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery and Vice President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), responds to the passing of the landmark Tobacco and Vapes Bill:

"Today is a truly historic day, as a generation of young people will never be sold tobacco and children will be protected from vapes deliberately designed to appeal to them."

"However, this is not the end of our work to combat tobacco. According to the Office for National Statistics, approximately 6.0 million adults, or 12% of the UK's population are current cigarette smokers. This law does not reach them, so we hope there will be further measures to tackle this significant public health problem."
