The Royal Colleges’ Faculty of Surgical Trainers (FST) and The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) have proudly partnered to create The FST / ASME Educational Research Grant.

The Grant is intended to support evaluation or research into surgical education and training. Projects should either lead directly to improvements in surgical education or training practice or increase our understanding of an aspect of surgical education or training.

Up to £3,000 will be available to applicants who are Members or Fellows of the College or ASME and are Surgical Trainees or Consultants.

Up to £3,000 for Small Global CARE Grants or up to £10,000 for large Global CARE Grants. Applicants from the UK and abroad can apply for funding for projects that are engaged in improving access to surgical and dental care in low and middle-income countries.

RCSEd is delighted to announce a new partnership with the British Orthodontic Society and the establishment of the RCSEd - BOS Research Grant.

The grant intends to support those undertaking a research project in the field of Orthodontics with up to £10,000 of funding available for one year.

Applications are welcome from pre-doctoral Orthodontists who are Members or Fellows of RCSEd and/or BOS and should be submitted online by 30 May 2025.

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s dental faculty are proud to present the Tom Bereznicki Dental Education Grant, which has been made possible by the generous donation of Tom Bereznicki. 

The Grant will support educational endeavours for individuals who are Affiliates, Members and Fellows of the Dental Faculty and/or the Faculty of Dental Trainers. 

Up to £3,000 will be available to defray expenses for those undertaking an appropriate educational qualification.

RCSEd is excited to announce its partnership with Guts UK with the establishment of the Joint RCSEd - Guts UK Research Grant. 

Guts UK are currently the only UK charity researching the digestive system, and its diseases, as such this partnership offers an opportunity to work towards our shared values and encourage research in this often-forgotten area of medicine and research.

The Joint RCSEd - Guts UK Research Grant will therefore award one successful applicant £10,000 to help fund a 12-month surgical research project.

RCSEd aim to support research at every stage and as such are delighted to offer Members and Fellows the exciting opportunity of the Small Pump Priming Grants in Cancer Research. 

Up to £10,000 is available for a Pump Priming Project which focuses on cancer research in any surgical, academic or dental form.

The Royal College of Surgeons is delighted to announce that applications are open for the NEW James Weir Foundation Research Grants. The establishment of these grants marks the continuation of a fifty eight year partnership, fostered in the shared value of improving healthcare outcomes by furthering scientific research.

For the inaugural round, applications are welcomed from UK and International Members, who are trainees or are within five years of their consultancy appointment, whose research focus is within the following four specialities: General Surgery, ENT Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery and Dentistry.

Applications are also welcomed, for The James Weir Scottish Research Grant, in all surgical and dental specialities, from RCSEd Members who will undertake their research in Scotland.

Up to £10,000 of funding will be available for each speciality area.
