The Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Healthcare are delighted to welcome the International Maritime Health Association (IMHA) as an Organisation Member.

The International Maritime Health Association (IMHA) and the Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Healthcare (FRRHH) have agreed to work together and become supportive members of the other organisation, to mutually promote research, education, and the sharing of knowledge across the two organisations. There are many similarities between remote and maritime medicine and much practice and learning is applicable to both.

The International Maritime Health Association is an individual membership organisation with around 150 current members from 38 different countries around the world. All have an interest in maritime health, maritime medicine and the welfare of seafarers. Many are practising health care professionals, but other’s primary role is in government, shipping or fishing companies, research or seafarer welfare. IMHA gives the members a voice on the international level of the maritime industry to help preserve the health of workers at sea, improve health care systems and guidelines. IMHA has consultative status at the IMO and observer status at the ILO. The International Maritime Health Journal is IMHA’s scientific publication and every two years the International Symposium on Maritime Health offers the opportunity to learn, debate and stimulate research and improvement in maritime health. Remote medical assistance is one of the main topics of IMHA and therefore IMHA is honoured to collaborate with the FRRHH.
