The Faculty of Dental Surgery is committed to supporting the ongoing professional development of dental professionals and promoting the highest standards of patient care. With almost 7,000 Fellows and Members worldwide and an extensive portfolio of exams and courses, the Faculty recognises the need to continue reflecting the needs of such a dynamic profession as it expands.
Following a recent review of its networks, the Faculty of Dental Surgery has changed the composition and duties of its regional representatives to encompass support for the whole dental team. As a result, it has recently appointed a network of Dental Advisers representing 17 geographical regions across the UK and internationally, including the Mediterranean and North Africa, the Middle East, and East and Southeast Asia.

Australasia
Dr Sven Jensen
Dr Sven Jensen is a specialist orthodontist based in South Australia. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Science in Dentistry with Honours, and Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics at the University of Adelaide. He is a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and completed a Craniofacial and Special Care Orthodontic Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.
Sven is owner and director of Adelaide Orthodontics, with practices in Unley and Hahndorf. He is also a Consultant Orthodontist at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Adelaide, working within the Paediatric Dental Department and Cleft and Craniofacial South Australia. He contributes to orthodontic education as a specialist orthodontist and clinical tutor at the University of Adelaide.
His professional interests include cleft and craniofacial orthodontics, paediatric and special care orthodontics, clear aligner therapy, orthodontic miniscrews, and improving the quality of patient information and consent materials. He has published widely in orthodontic and craniofacial journals and has volunteered internationally in East Timor as part of the Australian Craniofacial Unit.
Caribbean
Dr Trudee Hoyte is a specialist orthodontist, academic and researcher based in Trinidad and Tobago. She is a graduate of The University of the West Indies (UWI) School of Dentistry and completed her postgraduate orthodontic training at Cardiff Dental Hospital in the United Kingdom. Dr Hoyte currently serves as a lecturer in orthodontics at the UWI School of Dentistry, St. Augustine Campus, where she is actively involved in clinical teaching, curriculum development and postgraduate dental education.
In 2022, Dr Hoyte was appointed International Dental Ambassador for the Caribbean Region by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In this role, she works to strengthen international collaboration, expand continuing professional development opportunities and improve access to RCSEd examinations and educational initiatives across the Caribbean dental community.
Dr Hoyte is also the principal orthodontist at Hoyte Orthodontics & Invisalign Centre in Trinidad and Tobago. Her academic and clinical interests include orthodontic treatment outcomes, dental anomalies, sustainable dentistry and the advancement of specialist dental education within the Caribbean region. She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications and continues to advocate for high standards in patient care, professional education and regional capacity building in dentistry.
East Asia
Dr Khaing is a Burmese dental clinician-scientist specialising in geriatric and special care dentistry. He completed his dental training in Mandalay and earned his PhD in 2019 from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, focusing on Gerodontology and Oral Rehabilitation. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Hong Kong. Since 2021, he has been working in clinical artificial intelligence to promote oral health among the elderly and is currently expanding his research to include oral care for individuals with special needs. As a Principal Investigator, he has secured competitive external funding for his projects. His collaborative efforts have led to numerous achievements, including awards from the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and a Gold Medal for invention. Throughout his career, Dr Khaing has worked closely with organisations such as the IADR, NGOs, professional societies, and academic institutions. In March 2024, he joined the Faculty of Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and in December 2025, was appointed as an International Dental Ambassador. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and invited lectures in prosthodontics, geriatric dentistry, and AI applications in oral health, he continues to make significant contributions to the field.
MENA
Hamada Deyab is an Egyptian Orthodontic Consultant, educator, researcher, and academic leader with extensive experience in clinical orthodontics, postgraduate dental education, and professional mentorship. Since 2024, he has served as an Orthodontic Lecturer at Borg Al Arab University focus on evidence-based clinical practice.
In 2021, Dr Deyab founded Alexandria Orthodontics Academy (AOA), where he currently serves as Founder, CEO, and Program Director. Clinical training programs for MFDS and MOrth candidates.
Dr Deyab holds MFDS RCSEd, MOrth RCSEd, and Fellowship in Orthodontics (FOrth RCSEd), in addition to memberships and qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. He also serves as an Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG).
His research interests include orthodontic biomechanics, aligner therapy, patient-centered orthodontics, and interdisciplinary dental care. He has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, including “Maxillary Ridge Splint and Expansion Augmented by Autologous Tooth Graft: Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial” published in Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research (2025), and “Patient Satisfaction with Anterior Bite Turbos: A Prospective Clinical Trial” published in Dentistry Journal (2025). Passionate about advancing orthodontic standards and mentoring young professionals, he is dedicated to integrating innovation, leadership, and high-quality education.
South Asia
Dr V. Gopi Krishna, BDS, MDS, PhD, FDS RCS Ed ad hom is an endodontist of global repute. He is the current Editor of three reputed textbooks (eleven editions): Grossman’s Endodontic Practice – 12th, 13th, 14th & 15th Editions, Sturdevant’s Art and Science of Operative Dentistry – 1st 2nd & 3rd South Asia Editions, Preclinical Manual of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics – 1st 2nd 3rd & 4th editions that are read by more than 30,000 students annually across Asia.
He is the President-elect for International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) as well as Secretary General for the Indian Endodontic Society. He is currently working as Adjunct Professor at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, India. He is also the Associate Editor of European Endodontic Journal. Dr Gopi Krishna has presented 400 + invited podium lectures globally.
Kunaal Dhingra is Professor-in-charge of Periodontology at the Centre for Dental Education and Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He is a Fellow [FDTFEd] of the Faculty of Dental Trainers of RCSEd. Additionally, Professor Dhingra is a Fellow [FDS RCS (Eng) ad eundem] of Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Fellow [FDS RCPS (Glasg)] of Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Fellow of American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and Diplomate of International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Professor Dhingra is editorial board member of Journal of Periodontal Research, Specialty Editor of Bulletin of The Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Associate Editor of Periodontal and Implant Research, BMC Biotechnology, Frontiers in Oral Health and Frontiers in Dental Medicine journals. Additionally, he is Member of the Cochrane Collaboration and AI in Education at Oxford University (AIEOU) group. Professor Dhingra is a distinguished national and international speaker with clinical and research interests in periodontal microsurgery, digital dentistry, artificial intelligence, clinical trials and evidence synthesis.
South East Asia
Galvin Sim Siang Lin is an Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Dentistry, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is recognised as one of the emerging dental academics in Malaysia, with interests in endodontics, restorative dentistry, dental materials, and health professions education. Galvin obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Master of Science in Dentistry (MScD), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He also completed a Master of Medical Education (MMedEd) with distinction from Universiti Malaya and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with distinction from the University of Malaya-Wales. He holds several professional memberships and fellowships, including Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDS RCSEd), Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Trainers of RCSEd (FDTFEd), Fellowship of the College of General Dentistry (FCGDent), Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Educators (FAcadMEd), and Principal Fellowship of Advance HE (PFHEA). These recognitions reflect his contributions to dental education, academic leadership, faculty development, and scholarly advancement within dentistry. Galvin has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, with more than 80 publications in Scopus-indexed journals. He has also received numerous national and international research and presentation awards and serves as a guest editor and reviewer for several international journals. In addition, he has delivered lectures and workshops at national and international platforms, particularly in dental education, curriculum innovation, and research methodology. As an RCSEd International Dental Ambassador, Galvin remains committed to strengthening international collaboration and advancing dental education globally.
Dr Ang Yee graduated from MAHSA University in 2014, where she was awarded the prestigious Chancellor's Gold Medal. She subsequently obtained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
She completed her postgraduate training in Restorative Dentistry at the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM), graduating with distinction in her clinical examinations. Throughout her academic career, Dr Ang has received several awards in student competitions and has served on the organising committees of numerous national and international dental conferences.
Dr Ang is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching. She currently serves as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Coordinator for the Doctor of Restorative Dentistry programme at MAHSA University.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr Ang is a Key Opinion Leader for Rhein 83 attachments and the Straumann Group. Through her role as an International Dental Ambassador for RCSEd, she contributes to the College's mission of advancing excellence in dental education and professional development.
Dr Jun Ai earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from IMU in 2013 as part of its pioneer graduating cohort. She was honoured to receive the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sulaiman Merit Award as the top student in her class. In 2016, she obtained the MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and was subsequently awarded a scholarship in 2017 to pursue specialist training in Orthodontics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
She later completed her MOrth with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) in 2023, as well as with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She is grateful to have received the Young Educator Award for teaching excellence at IMU University and the Fellowship in Dental Education and Clinical Experience from RCSEd in 2025.
Currently, she serves as a Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics at IMU University and will celebrate a decade in the profession in 2026. In addition to her academic role, she is also a visiting clinician at several private clinics across the Klang Valley, Malaysia.
