Drowning – Physiology to Resus!
17th April 2023, 19:00 to 20:00 BST
Overview
Using a clinical case as a springboard this webinar will take a deep dive into the physiology associated with drowning and cold water immersion, and how this relates to the clinical response, including resuscitation, of this patient population.
Aims
This webinar aims to provide the physiological basis for clinical practice with respect to the pre-hospital management of a drowned person, which may include the complication of cold water immersion.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, the participant should have an appreciation of:
- The physiology of the drowning process
- The physiological response to cold water immersion
- How the physiology of drowning translates to pre-hospital clinical practice
- How the physiological response to cold water immersion impacts on clinical practice.
