RCSEd Fellows and Members Celebrated in the King's New Year Honours List 2026

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) extends its congratulations to its fellows and members who were recognised in the King’s New Year Honours List 2026 for their achievements and service across a wide range of healthcare.

Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE)

Professor Rhona Hunter Flin, Emeritus Professor of Applied Psychology, University of Aberdeen, Professor of Industrial Psychology, Robert Gordon University and Academic Advisor, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. For services to Research (Aberdeen, City of Aberdeen).

Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG)

Professor Tony Redmond, Inaugural Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Remote, Rural and Humanitarian Healthcare (FRRHH), member of the FRRHH’s Executive Committee, Professor Emeritus of International Emergency Medicine at the Humanitarian and Conflict and founder of of UK-Med. For outstanding contributions to humanitarian medical assistance.

Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)

Professor Syed Saeed Ashraf, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Morriston Hospital, Swansea. For services to Cardiac Surgery, the Provision of Training Surgeons from Abroad, and Academic Contribution (Swansea, West Glamorgan).

Professor Angus James Mackintosh Watson, Clinical Lead, The Scottish Capsule Programme and Clinical Chair of Surgery, University of Aberdeen. For services to Research and Surgical Care (Inverness, Inverness-shire).

Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE)

Dr Michael John Marsh, for services to the NHS (Lyndhurst, Hampshire).

Professor Paul Laurence May, for services to Charitable Fundraising and to Neurosurgery (Southport, Mereyside).
