Professor Grant McIntyre with the Welsh Dental Manifesto 2026

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is excited to publish both our surgical and dental manifestos for the upcoming Welsh elections. The people of Wales will take to the ballot box on 7 May and will have the chance to vote for their next government. With over 16,000 members in Wales, we have designed comprehensive manifestos outlining what the next Welsh Government will need to do improve the NHS and the health of its citizens.

The surgical manifesto calls for the next Welsh Government to support new models of care and innovation, to invest in infrastructure and to look after its NHS workforce. Amongst these top level ask we set out the steps that are needed to fulfil these. For dentistry we have asked for the NHS workforce to be bolstered, for public health to be prioritised and to increase the awareness of head and neck cancers.

You can read both manifestos below.
