Professor Grant McIntyre, RCSEd’s Dental Dean joined Malaysian dental students for a professional development talk exploring career pathways and the opportunities that lie beyond dental school.
He was invited to deliver a talk entitled ‘MFDS: RCSEd Overview & A Roadmap for Dental Graduates’ organised by the Malaysian Dental Students Association (MDSA) on Saturday, 29 August 2026 in conjunction with his visit to Malaysia.

The programme brought together perspectives from experienced dental professionals, offering students a broader view of life and career opportunities beyond dental school. The day commenced with Dr Chong Jun Ai, RCSEd’s International Dental Ambassador who delivered a lecture on ‘Orthodontic Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: A Clinical Approach’.
This was followed by Professor McIntyre’s session on dental examinations and qualifications and concluded with Dr Ang Yee’s ‘Meet Your International Dental Ambassador (IDA): Tips and Tricks to Excel as a Dental Officer’ that offered practical insights and advice for students preparing to transition into professional practice.
The enthusiastic participation and numerous questions raised at the end of each session reflected the students’ keen interest in both their professional development and future career pathways.
Approximately 60 Malaysian dental students attended the programme which was held at Wisma MDA in Petaling Jaya. Also present at the event were Dr. Nor Atika Md Ashar as MDSA’s Advisor and Ms Yap Jia Qi, President of MDSA.
Overall, the programme offered an impactful combination of education, professional development and practical insights into the realities of the profession that await students beyond graduation. The speakers’ sharing of their experiences and practical advice provided the students with valuable perspectives as they prepare for the next stages of their dental careers.
