Beyond the Knife: The Museum Podcast
Alongside its education and examinations, RCSEd is home to Surgeons’ Hall Museum and the Library and Archive in Edinburgh, preserving over five centuries of surgical history. Their podcast, Beyond the Knife, explores stories from medical history, with a recent episode of particular interest to our members in India.
Hosted by Chanté St Clair Inglis, Director of Heritage and Estates, the episode features Dr Theeba Krishnamoorthy, a physician turned researcher exploring the stories of the first South Asian women to qualify as doctors in Britain.

The agreement sets out the two organisations’ shared commitment to advancing surgical education and creating professional development opportunities through joint educational activities, which will commence next year with a series of joint webinars.
RCSEd and ASI Collaboration
The MDTs are a new collaboration between RCSEd and the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), established following discussions between RCSEd President, Professor Clare McNaught, and ASI representative, Professor Probal Neogi. Miss Leena Chagla, Consultant surgeon and RCSEd Council member, is leading on the series, which will focus on a variety of different MDT settings.
The first webinar, focusing on Breast Cancer, took place on 2 October and was moderated by Miss Chagla, immediate Past President of the Association of Breast Surgery, UK, and Professor Diptendra Sarkar, President Elect of ASI.
