It is with great regret that we learned yesterday about the passing of Professor Harold Ellis CBE, shortly after Harold marked his 100th birthday.
Professor Ellis committed his life to both medicine and surgery, qualifying as a doctor the same month the NHS was created and training as a surgeon after completing his national service. Harold went on to become one of the UK's most prominent surgeons, renowned author and a truly inspirational surgical educator.
We extend our sincerest condolences to Professor Ellis's family.
