We are proud to announce that Professor Angus Watson, Vice President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), has been awarded an OBE for his outstanding contributions to the field of surgery and surgical research.
With over 20 years experience as a Consultant and Colorectal Surgeon at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, Professor Watson's contributions to healthcare are immeasurable.
Professor Watson is a leader in innovative research and he has played an instrumental role in advancing surgical training. He established the Scottish Surgical Boot Camp, which has successfully trained over 600 Resident Surgeons over the past 15 years, and leads RCSEd’s Surgical Skills competition, which has engaged more than 6,000 aspiring surgeons to date.
Professor Watson is also committed to humanitarian healthcare work, volunteering with UK-Med, and regularly providing critical care in conflict zones. He has previously volunteered in Ukraine, and recently returned from his second mission to Gaza, where he provided critical care in the Field Hospital for war-injured patients.
This prestigious honour is a testament to Professor Watson’s remarkable dedication and significant impact on healthcare, and we’d like to extend our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved achievement.
