About the Competition
RCSEd & Medtronic National Student Surgical Skills Competition 2019/2020 offers tomorrow's surgeons the chance to hone their skills by competing against their peers from across the UK. The aim of the contest is to give final year medical students the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment and skills through a series of surgical tasks. We welcome students with no prior surgical experience. The competition also aims to promote the benefits of choosing a career in surgery and to help give future surgeons the confidence to forge their own path in medicine.

Across 20 Heats
The competition, which has been running since 2011, is spread across 20 regional heats where contestants must demonstrate their competencies in surgical techniques like knot tying, suturing and laparoscopy using the latest state-of-the-art surgical equipment.
To enter you must select a heat from the selection list and register your details. If the heat is not available, this means that the heat has not gone live. You are only able to register for a single heat that is in your local area.
