RCSEd National Student Surgical Skills Competition offers all medical students the chance to stretch their skills by competing against their peers from across the UK.
Below you will find all the information and video instructions on how to use the suturing pack.

The three tasks you are required to perform on a banana in your video for marking are:
Task 1 - Simple interrupted suture
Task 2 - Running suture
Task 3 - Horizontal mattress suture
- For all sutures, the incision is 5cm. You do not need to record yourself making the incision.
- You are required to use the suture as provided in your kit.
- Please use an instrument tie for all skills.

Videos will be uploaded to your choice of youtube or vimeo via an unlisted link – directions on how to do so are above. We require 3 separate videos, 1 for each task and please name your video as shown below:

Each video should be no longer than 3 minutes.
Place your phone in the stand and position until your phone can take a bird’s eye view of you carrying out the surgical tasks. Please video only your hands and keep your face out of the video to keep it anonymous. We recommend putting the phone stand on top of a few books to give you the higher up view.
