Role Description

As surgery is the most polluting and resource intensive part of medicine, RCSEd has created Sustainable Surgery Project Group to better understand the impact that surgical processes can have on the environment and devise practical, impactful ways to reduce their environmental.

The Sustainable Surgery Project Group is co-Chaired by Ms Katie Hurst and Ms Jasmine Winter Beatty and supported by Alex Morrison, RCSEd Policy and Public Affairs Officer.

To help us with this important work, we are seeking those with an interest in sustainable surgery to join the Project Group and help shape the College’s work. We are interested to hear from RCSEd members and fellows who can demonstrate the following:

  • A strong interest in sustainability issues as related to surgery and healthcare.
  • Approachable and communicative, with an ability and desire to work collaboratively.

Desirable

  • Evidence of having influenced specialty / organisational / departmental policy on sustainability
  • Ability to influence stakeholder practice and / or policy.
  • The positions are voluntary, for a maximum of three years.
