Assessors – Dental Diploma, Membership and Specialty Examinations

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated clinicians with demonstrable experience of dental surgery examining to become examination assessors for the Dental Faculty Diploma, Membership and Specialty Examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

You should be engaged in clinical/academic practice and be involved in appropriate undergraduate and postgraduate training. As a minimum, applicants should hold the BDS qualification and have examination experience with the College. Applicants must be on the Register of the General Dental Council of the United Kingdom. Whilst your primary specialty will be noted, assessors will be expected to assess all Faculty examinations.

You will be required to attend a minimum of two examination diets per year and undertake appropriate assessor training. Full details of the assessor role can be found in the job specification. The application form is available below on the College website (www.rcsed.ac.uk) and should be accompanied by two completed referee forms and ideally, a personal statement (of no more than 300 words) of what you would contribute to the role of being an assessor.

Please note that, if your application is successful, you will be required to attend training, renewed approximately every five years. Assessors will be able to earn CPD points during the assessor training.
