The Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is concerned at today’s report that the NHS Ombudsman is seeing record numbers of complaints about dentistry.

Grant McIntyre, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry commented:

This is worrying news, but sadly not surprising. NHS Dentistry is under huge pressure, and it is our patients who are suffering because of that. We would call upon politicians of all parties to work together with the dental profession and with our patients to address the failings in the current system, in particular the issues with limited access to an NHS dentist.

We know that access to dentistry is one of the public’s main concerns with the NHS, and this needs meaningful action from the government in conjunction with dentists to address.
