FDT is recruiting!

As our Education and Training Community grows, we invite you to be actively involved in the leadership of our Faculty.

The Faculty of Dental Trainers (FDT) of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was launched in 2016 as the world’s first Faculty supporting the role of dental educators and trainers. As the fastest growing Faculty in the College, the FDT community currently represents around 30 countries, from a diverse range of professional and educational backgrounds - including public and community services, hospital services, the armed forces, and teaching institutions.

The Faculty is excited to open applications to join our FDT Executive Committee. We are particularly interested in ensuring that our executive is able to represent a range of professional environments, ensuring that we are providing what our members want and need. We want members to see the Faculty as their professional home throughout their career – and we are particularly keen to engage with individuals who are enthusiastic, innovative and resourceful. We are also keen to encourage applications from early to mid-grade career professionals, those working in primary care, and from all members of the dental/oral health professional team.

We are committed to recruiting individuals who are most suited to the positions, based on abilities, qualifications, experience and merit  - as measured against the role description and person specification.

The role is open to existing FDT Fellows, Members and Associates in good standing and includes all qualified members of the dental team working in the UK and internationally: dentists, dental nurses, dental hygienists, dental therapists, technicians, clinical dental technicians, and orthodontic therapists who can demonstrate their involvement in appropriate dental education and training.

The closing date for applications is on Monday 5 January 2026.

Following initial review of applications, interviews will be held on the mornings of 13th and 16th January 2026.
