World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine Conference

In May of this year a truly international and multidisciplinary group of disaster and emergency medicine champions gathered in Killarney, Ireland for the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine Conference (WADEM).
WADEM saw the presentation of research, an enthusiastic exchange of ideas, best practice and provided the opportunity to forge strong international connections. The conference was attended by individuals from over 46 different countries which allowed for a fruitful sharing of experiences from different healthcare systems and healthcare contexts around the world.
The Faculty of Remote, Rural, and Humanitarian Healthcare (FRRHH) made a resounding impact as an exhibitor and FRRHH’s participation offered a valuable platform to highlight their dedication to improving healthcare in remote, rural, and humanitarian settings in addition to meeting with several Faculty Members.
A number of thought-provoking plenary presentations were delivered by Lord Nigel Crisp, Dr. Saleh Fares Al-Ali, Dr. Ronan Glynn, Prof. Virginia Murray and FRRHH Executive Committee Member and Founder of UK-Med, Prof. Tony Redmond.
The Faculty's exhibition booth was a centerpiece of innovation and dedication. The team presented a comprehensive display of their cutting-edge initiatives, projects, and research efforts geared towards addressing healthcare challenges in underserved and disaster-prone regions.

Delegates had the opportunity to register for the free Introduction to Humanitarian Healthcare Course. This is a valuable resource developed in partnership with UK-Med to provide a foundation to those interested in pursuing a career within humanitarian healthcare in addition to supporting those currently working within the field.
FRRHH seized the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with other exhibitors, delegates, and key stakeholders. These interactions opened doors for potential partnerships to further expand the reach and efficacy of their work.
As the world faces increasingly complex health challenges, the Faculty's commitment to innovation, research, and collaboration positions them at the forefront of the global effort to advance the further professionalisation of remote, rural and humanitarian healthcare. This has recently been exemplified through FRRHH’s new Membership and Fellowship awards which will globally recognise the unique skills, knowledge, and experience of remote, rural and humanitarian healthcare professionals.
