Overview

For the fifth and final Wellbeing Week webinar we will have two talks that will cover the lives and work of two extraordinary surgeons; Ms McCullough -  first female to pass selection on SAS who dares wins, and Prof Angus Watson who selflessly built a field hospital and operating theatre in Ukraine to help during the humanitarian crisis.

Aims

To highlight some of the amazing work and opportunities available within a career in surgery. Inspire the surgeons of tomorrow.

Panellists

Our panellists include:

  • Ms Louise McCullough - Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon in Aberdeen. She enjoys running, boxing, weight training and staying fit and she volunteers as team doctor for Aberdeen Rugby and is part of the medical team at the Scottish Rugby Union. She is also the first female to pass selection on Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Win.

  • Professor Angus Watson - Clinical Chair of Surgery at the University of Aberdeen. He is an honorary consultant surgeon at NHS Highland. He is an elected member of council of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Clinical Advisor to the Centre for Sustainable Delivery. He chairs the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s (RCSEd) Research Committee and its Global Surgery Foundation. His innovations include the Scottish Surgical Boot Camp and he is the instigator and clinical lead of the NHS Scotland Colon Capsule programme (ScotCap). He has over 230 peer reviewed publications, book chapters and conference papers and he has delivered healthcare across the globe, most recently in Ukraine along with UK-Med.
