Policy and Public Affairs
The College’s main goal is to ensure the safety of our patients and provide them with the best possible care by setting standards and influencing health policy across the UK. We do this on behalf of our membership which includes a wide range of healthcare professions involved in surgery including surgeons, dentists, perioperative practitioners, nurses and paramedics.
We influence health policy by:
- Working with College faculties, departments, groups and individual members and fellows to inform them of the latest healthcare policy developments and produce impactful, evidence based responses
- Proactively engaging with policy makers and policy influencers though meetings, campaigns and joint working
- Working with other organisations on issues impacting upon patient care
The Policy and Public Affairs team liaise closely with our membership to inform RCSEd’s policy positions.
We consult with a number of groups within The College including:
- Healthcare Policy Group
- RCSEd’s trainees' committee
- Lay advisory group
- Younger Fellows’ Network
- Regional Adviser Network
- Regional Advocacy Groups
Engaging our membership is vital to inform our policy work. If you would like to discuss our policy and public affairs work further please contact Chris Sanderson at firstname.lastname@example.org
