Overview

This event will keep you up to date with patient pathways in cancer treatments and will aim to explain the issues faced when assessing and treating patients before and during cancer treatment.

Target Audience

Consultants, Specialists and Trainees in Special Care Dentistry. Community/Public Dental Service Dentists. Consultants, Specialists and Trainees in Oral Surgery. Dental Core Trainees with an interest in Special Care Dentistry or Oral Surgery.

Aims & Objectives

The symposium aims to provide participants with up-to-date knowledge of patient pathways in cancer treatment. It will also explain the issues faced when assessing and treating patients before and during cancer treatment.

Learning Outcomes

Some of the main outcomes that will benefit the audience are: Describe diagnostic and treatment pathways for the management of patients with cancer; Describe treatment pathways for patients undergoing stem-cell transplant; Discuss the evidence and rationale for the use of anti-resorptive (including bisphosphonates) and anti-angiogenic drugs in patients with cancer; Discuss the risk factors for the development of Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws (MRONJ) and its management; Discuss the issues involved in assessing and treating patients before and during cancer treatment.
