International Strategy

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) has represented the surgical and dental workforce for over 500 years. In that time we have become a modern, thriving global network with some 27,000 Fellows, Members and Affiliates based in over 100 countries worldwide. Around 11,000 of our members, making up 40%, are based outside of the UK. We put our members at the heart of our decisions and activities. We are a global College, dedicated to providing opportunities, support and resources to our international membership. Our International Strategy was launched to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients worldwide. 

 

47th Convocation of Universiti Kebangsaan, Malaysia (UKM)  

On 2 November 2019, Past-President, Professor Michael Lavelle-Jones was awarded the National University of Malaysia's highest award of Honorary Doctor of Medicine.   

 

 

 

American College of Surgeons (ACS) Congress President's Reception

Following the ACS Convocation Ceremony RCSEd President, Professor S Michael Griffin, and Vice-President Professor Rowan Parks hosted a drinks reception to offer the opportunity for fellows, members and friends to learn about the international activities of RCSEd and network with American College of Surgeons members. 

UKM Hospital Visit 

International Activities Manager Catherine Thwaites (3rd from right) was welcomed by Professor Srijit Das and staff last month at the anatomy museum and lab at UKM Hospital to explore their excellent facilities and discuss hosting future courses. 

CSAMM Sarawak Roadshow 

Previous RCSEd president Professor Michael Lavelle Jones has been touring Sarawak, taking part in the College of Surgeons Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (CSAMM) Roadshow encouraging discussions on surgical training in Malaysia and abroad.
