The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is an independent membership organisation concerned principally with the education, training and assessment of Surgeons, Dental Surgeons and Doctors who are involved in the surgical care of patients.  Founded in 1505, the College currently has a membership approaching 27,000 in approximately 100 countries throughout the world.

About the Role

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh are under taking a Systems Transformation Project (STP), whereby we are updating all of our membership databases.  Ensuring that we store all of our membership, and wider contact records, in an accurate and consistent manner will be crucial to the success of the longer term STP.

We are looking for a Membership Services Assistant (Data Cleanse) to update, maintain and ensure the accuracy of the information held on our membership database.

Key responsibilities include accurately entering numerical and text information onto our membership database and filing paper copies, using an alphanumerical system.   You will also be required to make outgoing calls to our members (who are based worldwide) to clarify any questions we may have on the accuracy of the data that we hold.

Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills

The successful candidate must be able to type with accuracy and speed and have a keen eye for detail to spot any errors.  You must be confident in making outgoing telephone calls.  You must be able to work independently in your day to day job, however, you will be based as part of the wider membership services team so will not be expected to lone work.

This post is 25 hours per week, fixed term contract for one year.  Normal office hours are Monday to Friday 9 – 5, the successful candidate can agree a suitable working pattern inside those hours.

The post holder may on occasion also be required to travel and to work away from Edinburgh. This may require overnight stays away from his/her normal place of residence.
