About the Role

Working within the IISS section of the IT department, you will be joining a small technical support team of seven, responsible for ensuring the availability and security of network services, business information systems and for the smooth running of many of our events.

The IISS network systems and desktop team look after infrastructure, network, server and user computer services and the audiovisual team deliver audiovisual solutions for commercial and professional events clients on-site in Edinburgh and in our Birmingham office.   Each of the teams has a section head. 

The post holder will support the work of both teams by; for example, undertaking purchasing activities, contacting suppliers, following up on invoices; handling budgetary information; undertaking good record keeping via various systems – for example, hardware and  software inventories.  In addition and in due course, handling user enquiries and becoming familiar with the systems helpdesk would assist the work of the section. 

There is significant scope for utilising multiple software applications and tools and for personal development.

There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.


Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills

This is a superb opportunity for an individual who is confident, methodical, organised and conscientious.

Educated to a minimum level of Advanced Higher/ A Level (or equivalent) you will have proven administrative, secretarial and organisational experience.

You will have excellent communication and team working skills. You will be a proficient user of the MS Office suite especially Microsoft Excel, and have the ability to prioritise your workload with minimum supervision. You will have a high level of professionalism and a willingness to learn and occasionally take on new challenges.
