The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is an independent membership organisation concerned principally with the education, training and assessment of Surgeons, Dental Surgeons and Doctors who are involved in the surgical care of patients.  Founded in 1505, the College currently has a membership approaching 25,000 in approximately 100 countries throughout the world.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join a small HR team working at the heart of a highly-professional organisation. In this role you will provide high-quality HR administrative support and advice across the organisation.  You will be responsible for providing support to the HR Manager in the delivery of HR activities, including recruitment, discipline and grievance matters, project work, absence reports and training programmes.

Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills

You will hold a CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Diploma in Human Resources Management (or equivalent) or have equivalent experience within an HR role. You should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have Associate membership of the CIPD.

The ability to use MS Outlook email, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential whilst experience of using HR systems or stand-alone database systems (preferably iTrent) would be advantageous. Experience of recruitment processes and procedures is essential, as is experience of developing and running training courses. Experience of working in a similar organisation or background is also essential.

Possessing excellent organisational, verbal and written skills, you will be able to prioritize your workload with minimum supervision and have a methodical and conscientious approach to work. You should be willing to take on new challenges and be able to work as part of a team. A flexible, positive, discreet and confidential approach to sensitive work is essential.
