Education Development Officer
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is an independent membership organisation concerned principally with the education, training and assessment of Surgeons, Dental Surgeons and Doctors who are involved in the surgical care of patients. Founded in 1505, the College currently has a membership of around 23,000 in approximately 100 countries throughout the world.
About the Role
The Education Development Officer will work closely with the Assistant Director of Professional Activities, supporting their activities in education and examinations. The post holder will also work with the Head of Exams and Education Manager across all areas of education and examinations on a range of different activities aimed at expanding and developing the College’s educational and assessment portfolio on campus, across the UK and internationally. They will be expected to meet regularly and build relationships with a range of stakeholders including; members and fellows, representatives from partner organisations, industry and groups allied to surgery. They will also be required to work closely with staff from within the Professional Activities Department and wider College.
With an enthusiastic, methodical and conscientious approach to work you will be educated to a minimum level of Advanced Higher Grade level/A-Level/HNC (or equivalent). You will have proven administrative and organisational skills, be computer literate and have experience of managing databases. The ability to communicate effectively at different levels and coordinate a diverse range of activities is essential as is ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and to tight deadlines and ability to prioritise day-to-day workloads under minimum supervision.
A degree level (or equivalent) qualification is desirable as is previous work experience in a similar organisation.
