The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is an independent membership organisation concerned principally with the education, training and assessment of Surgeons, Dental Surgeons and Doctors who are involved in the surgical care of patients.  Founded in 1505, the College currently has a membership approaching 25,000 in approximately 100 countries throughout the world.

About the Role

Principal Task

Reporting to the Database & Systems Administrator, this role is primarily to provide specialist support and troubleshoot day to day activity within key Business Information Systems within the College in relation to a variety of departments and business activities.

The post holder also contributes significantly  to the ongoing development of systems functionality by in depth analysis of business processes and procedures and writing requirements that feed into ongoing systems development work in support of projects, initiatives and long term goals.

The identification and delivery of training to systems users is also a key feature of the position as well as being key in the testing and rolling out of new systems functionality as it evolves.

Occasional travel will be required.

Secondary Tasks

Carry out any other tasks as delegated by the Business Information Systems Administrator, the manager of the Application and Online Services Team or Director of Professional Activities

Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills

This is a superb opportunity for an individual who has technical problem solving skills and experience providing specialist support to business users at a variety of levels.  

You will be educated to a minimum level of HND/Degree or have demonstrable experience with good educational standards.
