Support Us

The Development and Partnerships Office exists to help The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) maintain and develop good relations with Members and the public – helping you to stay in touch with the College and updating you on College activities. We fundraise for the College and encourage donors to support RCSEd so that it can continue to be at the forefront of surgical education, research and heritage for centuries to come.

College supporters are a vital part of the RCSEd community and we are committed to keeping all of its members in touch with each other and with the College today. These pages are intended to keep you up-to-date with College news and with our activities, run in conjunction with the Heritage Society.

In 2015, the College welcomed back members and supporters to mark the end of the Lister Project and opening of the Prince Philip Building. To tie in with this major milestone, the College has also been focusing its efforts on ensuring excellence in surgical education and research, to help sustain the College’s position as one of the world's finest teaching and research establishments at the cutting edge of surgical innovations and achievements. Your generous support is crucial to the College delivering this ambition for future generations.

Why We Need Your Support

At the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, we want to build for the future, as our predecessors have built for the present. Since 1505 we have been committed to maintaining the highest standards in surgical education and research in order to improve the lives of millions across the globe.

However, the cost of this education and research is great and the time required to train is formidable. Trainee bursaries, travelling fellowships and research grants provide important, yet limited support. It is vital that we continue to adapt to keep up with global demands on healthcare and plan for the rising number of patients requiring surgical care.

As a College we have an important role as custodians of a unique medical history which is on public display in the Surgeons Hall Museums. This is a vital part of our ambition to educate the public around their own bodies and the role of surgery and medicine in improving the lives of human beings worldwide.

We believe that members and friends of the College will want it to flourish and ensure that future generations benefit from the latest surgical innovations. By supporting our work you will have the opportunity to help us realise these vital ambitions and enable us to look to the future with confidence.
