Dr Raja Jayaram

Academic Consultant Intensivist and Anaesthetist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Raja's research interests in Cardiac/Non-Cardiac surgery domains and outcomes research in Critical care are Myocardial ischaemia-reperfusion injury, Atrial fibrillation, Perioperative myocardial injury and Acute kidney injury. His research investigating the impact of Ischaemia-Reperfusion injury during Cardiopulmonary bypass and clinical outcomes following perioperative administration of statins in patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery published in Cardiovascular Research, Lancet, NEJM and led to the award of DPhil (PhD) in Cardiovascular Medicine from St Catherine's College, University of Oxford. He is currently the UK national leader of Perioperative Ischaemia evaluation Trial -3 (POISE3), a 10,000 patient, multicentre, international, non-inferiority randomized controlled trial of tranexamic acid versus placebo and, using a partial factorial design, of a perioperative hypotension-avoidance versus hypertension-avoidance strategy in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery.


Mr Stuart Irving

Stuart Irving is an Endourological Surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, UK. He has been a consultant in Norwich for over 18 years and work as part of a team managing complex stone disease from all over the East of England. A significant amount of his time is committed to education. He is an Academic Head of Year at Norwich Medical School (UEA). He leads the stone module for the MCh Degree at the University of Edinburgh. He was awarded fellowship of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers in 2015 and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2019. He is an active reviewer for a number of peer reviewed urology journals.
