IMGSS - Information for NHS Trusts
The purpose of the IMGSS programme is to offer sponsorship to International Medical Graduates (IMG) for registration with the General Medical Council to work in the UK under the Medical Training Initiative (MTI) Scheme for a period 6 months up to two years. IMGs coming in to a post under MTI Scheme will require the support of the appropriate NHS Trust. In order for the RCSEd to begin the assessment process for sponsorship to the GMC, the College must first receive an application from the UK Supervising Consultant and supporting documentation listed below. Please see the regulations which outline the IMGSS eligibility requirements. Once the College has received the documentation, the application will be assessed for suitability by the Clinical Lead for IMGSS.
IMGSS application documents that are required for assessment:
- Completed UK Consultant IMGSS Application Form
- Job description
- A letter from the relevant Postgraduate Dean stating that the post has educational merit and does not disadvantage a UK trainee
- An up to date CV
The MTI application form on the AoMRC website must be completed by the Trust and returned to the AoMRC.
