Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry for Dental Therapists and Graduates in Oral Health Sciences (DT) RCSEd)
The Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry for Dental Therapists and Graduates in Oral Health Sciences examination is a summative assessment in the field of Paediatric Dentistry, and is intended to test the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and attitude relevant to the practice of Paediatric Dentistry within the scope of practice of a Dental Therapist.
Examiner Vacancies
The College is recruiting examiners for this Diploma and applications are invited from dental therapists and dually qualified dental hygienist-therapists in possession of the Diploma in Dental Therapy (RCS Edinburgh) or equivalent, graduates of Oral Health Sciences, and individuals who are on the Specialist List for Paediatric Dentists and hold an MPaed Dent or equivalent with the RCS Edinburgh.
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who would like to join an experienced board of examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. This is an ideal opportunity for the successful candidates to get involved in the Edinburgh College. Dental Therapists are encouraged to take an active role in the development of their profession. Dentists in the possession of an MPaed Dent RCS Edinburgh (or equivalent) will be able to use this opportunity to gain experience in examining and are also encouraged to engage in the development of the Diploma of Paediatric Dentistry with their dental therapy colleagues. Specialist dentists may wish to extend the examinations experience to MPaed Dent level at a later date.
Examiners must be in good standing with the General Dental Council, should hold current registration with the GDC and have been registered for a period of not less than four years. Dental Therapists must be registered with the General Dental Council and should hold a Diploma in Dental Therapy of the RCS Edinburgh or equivalent. For Dentists, the candidate needs to be on the Specialist List for Paediatric Dentists of the General Dental Council and hold an MPaed Dent or equivalent with the RCSEd.
Training for all examiners will be provided online by the College, following which you would be invited to observe the examinations process, before examining for the first time. During your first attendance at the examination you will be supported by an experienced examiner. All appointed examiners will be expected to contribute to the question bank and attend appropriate further training. Current dates for the online training course are being planned, and examiners must attend a training course before being permitted to examine. Successful applicants will be invited to training on approval of their application.
