Call for International Faculty
The College is seeking Fellows who are, or who have recently been, actively involved in surgical training and who would be interested in joining a small team of surgeons who delivered the successful pilot programme to support capacity building in urology in Myanmar during 2017.
An enlarged Faculty is now needed to help deliver a new programme to all surgical specialties in the country based on a Faculty development programme which aims to introduce the principles of competence based progression through the Masters in Medical Science degree taught by all four principal universities in the country.
The programme will be carried in close collaboration with the Myanmar Surgical Society and other specialty societies and will be funded by the Union Minister for Health and Sport.
It is anticipated that Faculty training workshops will commence in early April 2018 in both Yangon and Mandalay and you would be expected to commit to at least one visit lasting for up to ten working days. If you are able to take visit the country more than once in the twelve months to between April 2019, that would be an advantage.
We would like interested Fellows to be Fellows of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers or to be Fellowship eligible: full training for the workshops will be provided in the UK prior to the international activities through the Department of Education.
Informal enquiries are welcomed to Mr David Tolley, who is leading the project, by email in the first instance (firstname.lastname@example.org). It is anticipated that selection of successful candidates will be made by mid-February following formal application (no forms needed) and interviews will be conducted by Skype.
