MFDS Kuala Lumpur: a Glimpse into the Future of Dentistry
On 29 July 2024 the RCSEd International Office in Kuala Lumpur played host to the MFDS Taster event, which was held at the Advanced Surgical Skills Centre, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz. The session was intended to provide insights into the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) for Malaysian dentists and an opportunity to practice a mock examination.
Prof. Grant McIntyre, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, along with Dr Sarah Manton, Director of the Faculty of Dental Trainers and Dr Liz Connor spent three hours with the participants on the membership examination, the exam process, the tips and tricks, the pitfalls, and what it meant to be part of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Aside from short lectures and playing videos of examination scenarios, the speakers held a mock examination to give some ideas for the dentists on what the actual proceedings entailed.
The audience was highly engaged throughout the session with positive responses, questions and answers and interacted actively with the speakers. The session received fantastic feedback from the participants and it concluded with a networking dinner.
