The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is shocked but sadly not surprised at the findings of the recent report by the National Audit Office into the NHS. The report lays out in stark detail the issues the NHS has faced caused by underfunding.

College President Prof. Rowan Parks said:

“I concur with the reports findings that, despite the admirable efforts of NHS staff and management, the ability of the NHS to be able to match the growing demands on its services is at risk.”

“This latest report serves as a stark wake up call. The DHSC must work alongside the NHS and the professional bodies to reform our health service so it can deliver the best possible care to patients."
