The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh note the outcome of the recent MPTS investigation into the behaviour of Consultant Transplant Surgeon James Gilbert. In light of the findings of the tribunal, the College has initiated an investigation under our disciplinary process with respect to Mr Gilbert.

Sexual misconduct of any kind must not be tolerated in our profession or in our workplaces. The College will continue to support those who have been subjected to any form of abuse or sexual misconduct and take appropriate action where members of the College are found to have committed misconduct.

We take this issue very seriously and will continue to advocate on behalf of our members against sexual misconduct, bullying and undermining through our Let’s Remove It campaign. We have created a page on our website which collates useful resources and directs people towards help.
