Special Awards at RCSEd Diploma Ceremony

We offer our hearty congratulations to all our new Fellows and Members, many of whom will be attending our latest Diploma Presentation Ceremony in Edinburgh on Friday 28 June. From Detroit to Dundee and from Bangalore to Birmingham, some eighty individuals from around the world will be presented with their diplomas and medals.
RCSEd response to the GMC commissioned “Fair to Refer” report

It is known that doctors from outside the UK and BME doctors within the UK are more likely to be referred to the GMC by their employers than their UK qualified or white peers. Today’s GMC report highlights a number of causes of higher rates of referrals for these groups of doctors.
The FST Medal for exceptional contributions to Surgical Training - Nominations now open

In order to recognise and celebrate exceptional trainers, the Faculty of Surgical Trainers are introducing their first Medal Award, which will be presented at the FST Conference held in Birmingham in October 2019.
Surgeons Call on UK Government to Reconsider Regulation of Surgical Care Practitioners

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and the Federation of Surgical Specialty Associations (FSSA) have written a robust letter to Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock calling on him to introduce statutory regulation for surgical care practitioners (SCPs).
Scottish Royal Colleges Looking for Chair of the Scottish Surgical Simulation Collaborative

In a joint collaboration, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow are inviting applications for the new role of Chair of the Scottish Surgical Simulation Collaborative. The bi-collegiate group are looking for someone to chair a number of collaborative meetings a year and to chair subgroups and workstreams as required while promoting the groups objectives in the field of surgical simulation.
