Joint UK Royal Surgical Colleges, Federation of Surgical Specialty Associations and Upper Airway Group Statement

In the light of the recent changed JCVI and national public health authorities guidance on vaccination priority and increasing the interval between first and second doses of the vaccine, representatives of the Colleges, FSSA, and the Upper Airway Specialty Group have agreed the following:

An Important Update on the DIMC and FIMC Examinations

Due to the exceptional circumstances brought about by COVID-19, the College has been working hard to find alternative solutions for the DIMC and FIMC Examinations.
Delays with Diploma Ceremonies and Certificates

With the latest lockdown in place in the UK, we are disappointed that it will mean inevitable further delays in being able to welcome our new Members and Fellows to a diploma ceremony in Edinburgh. The new restrictions mean the College campus in Edinburgh has closed and unfortunately, this means we are unable to send out diploma certificates in the month of January.
Important update on the MRCS Part B and DO-HNS Part 2 examinations in the UK and Ireland in February 2021
Due to the current rise in COVID-19 infections, which has led to new lockdown restrictions and increased pressure on the health services in the UK and Ireland, the Intercollegiate Committee for Basic Surgical Examinations (ICBSE) and the four Surgical Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom and in Ireland have taken the difficult decision to cancel the MRCS Part B and DO-HNS Part 2 examinations that had been scheduled to take place in February 2021.
