In a landmark collaboration aimed at addressing the critical shortage of skilled surgical care in conflict and disaster zones, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) is teaming up with the David Nott Foundation (DNF) to later this year host their Hostile Environment Surgical Training UK (HEST-UK) course at the College in Edinburgh.

The Surgical Skills Competition Grand Final took place at the College on Saturday 16 March. Students from 40 medical schools across the UK came together for a friendly competition to test their surgical skills.

RCSEd was proud to award a number of medals in recognition and celebration of outstanding services to surgery at its diploma ceremony on Friday 26 April.
Good Clinical Research Practices - A brand new course for Surgical Trainees

Taking place at the College on 6 June, the course will provide all the latest information on the new regulations, particularly regarding statutory instruments, additional requirements for informed consent, as well as the importance of the quality management systems and the audit/inspection process.
The Edinburgh Hands on Balance Course - all you need to know from the course convenor

Following its success last year, the College’s Edinburgh Hands on Balance Course will run again on 13-14 May 2019. Currently the only multidisciplinary balance course in the UK, the course provides up-to-date management of balance disorders through a combination of lectures and small group workshops using state of the art equipment.
