Death of Fiona Gibb, Dental Exams Co-ordinator with 37 Years of Service at RCSEd

It is with great sadness that the College announces the passing of Fiona (“Fee”) Gibb, Dental Exams Co-ordinator, who recently retired on the 1st of May.
Head of Examinations, Liz McKinney-Bennett, had some kind words to share, summing up Fiona’s time at the College, and the impact she had on us all:
“I know many people across the College were shocked and deeply saddened by the death of Fiona Gibb – Fee – last week. Whilst we in the Examinations Department were particularly close to her, there are many, many others within the college family who worked with and alongside Fee during her legendary 37 years of sterling service to RCSEd: from staff and candidates to examiners, Deans and Presidents – past and present.
It seems tragic that Fee didn’t get the opportunity to enjoy her hard-earned and much-anticipated retirement. It is also of great sadness and regret that we were unable to give her the retirement party and general ‘send-off’ which she thoroughly deserved (though she would have grumbled about having a party, we know she would have loved it really!). The President and CEO have kindly arranged flowers and letters to Fee’s family from the College and once we hear from the family about Fee’s preferred charity, the College will make a donation in memory of Fee in lieu of her retirement gift.
We have been astonished and comforted by the number of messages we have received from across the world and closer to home, all notable for their depth of feeling and the sincerity of their condolences. I am collating all the messages to give to the family, so if anyone wishes to share a funny story, a reminiscence of Fee or just to express their condolences, please do email me. We sincerely hope that the messages will give Fee’s family enduring comfort and demonstrate the very high regard and heartfelt affection in which she was held by everyone she encountered and worked alongside over her 37 years. Or as Fee would say… “..since Moses was a boy”.
We will miss her very much – her love of Skittles, Aberdeen Butteries and endless patience with candidates and examiners - but she will always remain in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.”
